Mandhira Paavai Annai’s Jayanthi and 18 Siddhar Pooja will be celebrated at the temple on Friday, 10th May, 2019, the day of the Poosam star of the Tamil month of Chithirai.
The special pooja will begin at 4.30 p.m that evening, with the lighting of the traditional Kuthu Vilakku. This will be followed by the chanting of 18 Siddhar Potri and invoking of Annai Mandhira Paavai through a special Velvi in which five sacrificial and medicinal herbs (samith) specific to the five most important mantras of Annai Mandhira Paavai will be offered.
Annai Mandhira Paavai, the guardian deity of the Siddhas, is believed to have first manifested on Poosam day aeons ago, through the divine sankalpa of the Siddhas, who first installed, consecrated and worshipped Her image in the Podhigai mountains of Tamil Nadu. It’s further believed that Annai Mandhira Paavai lives to this day in the Podhigai mountains and that, every year, on Poosam day in the month of Chithirai, Siddhas congregate at the mountains to worship Her.
As per the revelation in Annai Aadhi Parsakthi’s Arul Vaakku at this temple, the 18 Siddhas at the temple also come out of their yogic state of absorption on this day and gather together to worship the Annai Mandhira Paavai consecrated here, in a state of rapturous bliss, before going back to their yogic state. Therefore, it’s believed that visiting the temple on this day and attending the pooja will endear one to the 18 Siddhas.
We welcome all devotees to participate in Mandhira Paavai Annai’s Jayanthi pooja and get Her blessings.
