Navagrahas and human suffering

Our tradition teaches us that every outcome has a driving force and happens for a reason. Similarly, the Divine Mother has preached that there is a reason behind all the sufferings, shortcomings, hindrances and failures that a human being faces in life.

According to Her, these are the results of knowingly or unknowingly hurting other living beings through one’s words or deeds while leading a comfortable life; these could be sins from this birth or from the previous ones. These sins are recorded as negative vibrations with specific Navagrahas, thus crystallizing into specific Navagraha Doshas.

Navaragaha Doshas can affect Siddhas too

Many disciples learnt the subtle and esoteric Siddha arts from Siddhar Agasthiyar. Some disciples could imbibe the art forms easily, but many others found it difficult and some were unable to learn it at all.

Those disciples who were unable to learn the arts sought an explanation from Agasthiyar. The Guru replied assertively that all his disciples would certainly learn his teachings. He went on to explain that he evaluates the planetary positions of each disciple and ascertains whether they can become a Siddhar even before accepting them as a disciple. He then explained to them about the Navagraha Doshas that were hindering their progress and taught them specific chants that would remove these Doshas when recited with humility and faith.

Remedies for Navagraha Doshas

It is impossible to nullify these negative vibrations or undo our actions that resulted in the sin in the first place. But, does it mean that there’s no remedy at all for such doshas?

The answer is, ‘No’. God, being the very embodiment of boundless grace, always provides his errant children with options to mend their ways by undertaking specific propitiatory rituals to remove the Navagraha doshas.

For example, by practising certain advanced breathing techniques, one can alter the planetary vibrations to his/her favour. Also, chanting mantras in praise of a specific planet will diminish the bad effects caused by the planet and enhance related benefits.

Navagraha Saaba Nivarthi Velvi at our temple

The sonnets sung by Siddha Agasthiyar and taught to his disciples, are known as Navagraha Saaba Nivarthi and serve as solutions to address specific Navagraha Doshas. Gorakkar Siddhar, in his works, has presented the yagna (velvi) methodology for these sacred chants, along with the related rules and sacrificial entities such as cereals (Danyam) and tree barks as offerings specific to each planet.

These sacred chants and the velvi rules codified by Gorakkar Siddhar were graciously revealed by Annai Aadi Parasakthi through Her Arul Vaakku and form the basis for the conduct of the Velvi at our temple.

The Velvi begins with a prayer to Lord Siva, the Guru of the Siddhas and Divine Mother Mandhira Paaavai, the guardian deity of the Siddhas. The devotee afflicted by the Dosha is then instructed to seek the blessings of the Almighty with sincere prayers, vowing not to hurt others through word or deed. Subsequently, the sacred chants of Agasthiyar are recited by the volunteers conducting the Velvi, culminating in the Poornahoothi.

Perform Navagraha Velvi at our temple

We urge all the devotees with Navagraha Doshas to perform this velvi at our temple, to alleviate their sufferings and lead a prosperous life. Health ailments caused due to the Navagraha Doshas can only be resolved by performing the Navagraha Saabha Nivarthi yagna.

Note: This velvi is done only on Fridays and only after prior booking. Please contact 044-2246 0820, 2246 2910 for further details.
