Siddhar Bhogar

He came from China and became a disciple of ‘KALANGINATHA SIDDHAR’. He did yoga in a strenuous way and achieved many siddhis. One of his specialisations was in his handling the poisionous herbs called ‘PASHANAM’. He could cure may ailments using such poisionous herbs. His indelible mark of achievement is the construction of Lord Karthikeya’s statue with ‘Nine Pashana’ herbs, which still exists in ‘PALANI’ temple. By using ‘Rasavada’ (Alchemy) technique, he used to roam around in the sky, finding out the natural resources and reporting them. He exposed many ‘magicians’ by explaining their, modus operandi, in detail through poems.

Speciality

Bhogar is also known as the Palanimalai siddhar. He is popularly known for installing the Navabaashaana Murugan statue at the Palani Temple. To this date, no scientist anywhere in the world has been able to either decipher the composition of the Navabaashaana or recreate it. His Samadhi (tomb) is also situated at Palani. Bhogar is a very joyful Siddhar, he bestows his worshippers with happiness.

How to Worship

According to the instructions revealed in Annai’s Arul Vaakku, devotees seeking the blessings of Siddhar Bhogar must visit the temple on Wednesdays, for 12 to 18 weeks.

During each visit, they must begin their worship by lighting five ghee lamps from the Akandha Jyothi burning in the Annai Mandhira Paavai Mahamandapam and performing an Archanai to Annai Mandhira Paavai.

After completing these rituals, they must sit in front of the sanctum of Annai Mandhira Paavai and the 18 Siddhas and recite the 108 Siddhar Potrigal, paying special attention to the chant(s) for Bhogar Siddhar given below. After reciting the 108 Siddhar Pottrigal, they must pray to Siddhar Bhogar for ten minutes with closed eyes in a meditative pose.
