Siddhar Therayar

A versatile Siddha purusha, who had a soft corner for the poor and the needy. He used his siddhis (Psychic powers) to help the down trodden. He always fought for the right things, and achieved what he wanted. He proved to his peers and colleagues that operations, like the removal of cancerous growths, can be done successfully with herbs. He and his guru Agasthyar paved the way for “Siddha Vaidyam”. He motivated the other siddhas and is responsible for the creation of the most powerful mantra sakti called “Mandra Pavai”. He is the senior disciple of Guru Agasthyar, and is responsibile for spreading ‘Yemakalai’ to the others. His tenure of running this temple is from June 03 till June 04.

Speciality

Therayar is an expert in the field of Siddha surgery. He is an expert in the use of rare herbs to precisely  cut open the human body, treat the ailment in the internal organ and again stitch the cut open body with herbal extracts. Therayar worship on Tuesdays at the Pallikaranai Sakthi Temple provides permanent cure from diseases which requires surgery and complete cure from diseases related to the human brain and nervous system.

How to worship Siddhar Therayar

According to the instructions revealed in Annai’s Arul Vaakku, devotees seeking the blessings of Siddhar Therayar must visit the temple on Tuesdays, for 12 to 18 weeks.

During each visit, they must begin their worship by lighting five ghee lamps from the Akandha Jyothi burning in the Annai Mandhira Paavai Mahamandapam and performing an Archanai to Annai Mandhira Paavai.

After completing these rituals, they must sit in front of the sanctum of Annai Mandhira Paavai and the 18 Siddhas and recite the 108 Siddhar Potrigal, paying special attention to the chant(s) for Therayar Siddhar given below. After reciting the 108 Siddhar Pottrigal, they must pray to Siddhar Therayar for ten minutes with closed eyes in a meditative pose.

The ghee lamps, archana tickets and copies of the 108 Siddhar Pottrigal may be purchased from the temple office.

There is no other fee for conducting this worship of Siddhar Therayar at the temple.

Theraiyar Pottri (Chants)

Meaning

  • An expert in the field of surgery in the Siddha discipline.
  • One who has renounced worldly pleasures and sits in the Samadhi state underwater.
  • A scholar who knows the nuances of the vedic discipline and the principles of Omkaram.
  • The one who joyfully meditates on the light of wisdom (Gnana Oli).

Additional Worship

In addition to the above worship on a specific day, we recommend that devotees continue visiting and praying to the Siddhars at the temple on full-moon (Pournami) and new-moon (Amaavaasai) days as this is believed to enhance the results.

Optionally, during this 18-week worship period, the devotees may sponsor the Siddhar Malar Malai which is offered on all full-moon days.

On completing this 18-week worship, devotees will start to observe positive changes with the blessings of Siddhar Theraiyar.  We encourage devotees who have received the intended results of their worship to sponsor the Pournami Annadhanam at our temple as a mark of thanksgiving to Siddhar Theraiyar; nearly 3000 people are fed on each Pournami day.
