Annai Mahalakshmi

In the Mandhira Paavai maha mandapam (Great hall of Mandhira Paavai) resides Divine Mother Mahalaskhmi, consecrated as per the instructions of Annai Aadhi Parasakthi.

In the Tamil spiritual tradition, Annai Mahalakshmi is believed to bless Her devotees with 16 types of wealth. Sri Abhirami Pattar, the great saint and devotee of Goddess Abhirami in Thirukkadaiyur in Tamil Nadu, enumerated these sixteen types of wealth in his famous poem, Abhirami Anthathi. They are education, fame, strength, success, good progeny, wealth (money), food, beauty, intelligence, youth, patience, courage, lack of disease, long life span, good fate and enjoyment (or the ability thereof).

It’s believed that, by propitiating Her, one can obtain all of these 16 types of wealth.

How to Worship

Devotees seeking the blessings of the Divine Mother Mahalaskhmi  should choose a Friday and visit the temple. At the Sannidhi, they should offer a pure silk sari (of good quality) and a scented garland to Goddess Mahalaskshmi. In a plantain leaf, they should offer three types of fruits, any one type of sweet and other pooja items.

Sitting in front of this set of offerings placed before Annai Mahalakshmi, they should then light one ghee lamp and chant Vinaayagar Potri one time and Thirumagal Potri six times. Upon completing the above procedure, they should complete the pooja by lighting the camphor. (The books containing all sacred chants are available in the temple premises)

By performing this pooja, any form of marital hindrance (Maangalya dosham) will be resolved and the blessings of Goddess Mahalaskshmi will be achieved.
