Vinaitheertha Vinayagar
The Sannidhi (Sanctum Sanctorum) of Vinaitheertha Vinayagar (the Ganesha or Pillayar consecrated at the temple) was the earliest to be consecrated at the temple in 1984, immediately after that of Annai Aadhi Parasakthi.
It is situated right near the entrance of the temple; thus, true to the Hindu tradition that Lord Ganesha should be invoked before beginning any activity, one can proceed to the other Sannidhis at the temple (including that of Annai Aadi Parasakthi) only after paying obeisance at His feet.
The vigraha (idol) of Lord Ganesha has been consecrated facing the western direction. The manifestation of Lord Ganesha at this temple goes by the name of “Vinaitheertha Vinayagar” or one who melts away the karmas of the previous births.
How to Worship
Devotees may worship Lord Ganesha at our temple and invoke His blessings by sponsoring or participating in any of the following modes of worship:
- Abhishegam
- Velli Kavasam (Silver Shield)
- Sandana Kaappu (Sandal Kaappu)
- Sankatahara Chathurthi
Of these, the Sankatahara Chathurthi pooja, conducted in the evening of the fourth day (Chathurthi) after Pournami (Full moon day) every month, draws a large number of devotees to the temple. Devotees are encouraged to participate in the pooja and partake of the blessings of Vinaitheertha Vinayagar.
